If you have been thinking about cleaning or servicing your AC unit yourself, there is probably a bit more to it than you thought. It’s always best to contact a professional air conditioning repair service to stay on the safe side.
Many things are easily maintained through routine maintenance and by scheduling air conditioning service calls that will keep your unit operating at peak performance. Things as simple as cleaning your AC condenser coils and evaporator coils can substantially cut down on air conditioning repair. This can also add longevity to your cooling system and will help to cut down on high energy costs due to the removal of built-up grime, dust and debris that collect in the coils over the years.
AC Repair in Atlanta
Many people are often confused about when it’s time to either repair or replace their air conditioning unit. Some units will make noises when they first start up after sitting idle over the long winter months. Sometimes debris can collect inside the unit if it sat uncovered and was exposed to the elements for several months. Small twigs, acorns, tree bark, and other items can get caught in the fan blades. This can cause the unit to sound as if it needs replaced when you first turn it back on. Any number of things can cause your unit to make unusual sounds.
Air conditioning (AC) plays a very important role in our daily comfort especially when the hot summer months arrive. Nothing is cooler than coming to a comfortably air conditioned home at the end of the day. Having an air conditioner may be luxury for some but, for others who live in warm climates, such as Atlanta, Georgia it is a necessity.
Now, if you’re thinking of buying another HVAC system for home, one very important thing you need to do is choose the type of AC you need.
Atlanta, Georgia – As the temperatures are dropping, homeowners are going to be needing their furnaces more and more. But if homeowners called for furnace repair often last winter, they may now be wondering if they should install a new furnace. However, homeowners shouldn’t try furnace installation on their own, says Phil Montgomery. Montgomery owns Atlanta Heating and Air Conditioning, a company with more than 40 years of experience assisting Atlanta area homeowners.
“Furnace installation can be very dangerous, so we always recommend homeowners hire a professional,” says Montgomery, whose company also provides Alpharetta heating repair. (more…)
Atlanta Furnace Service Expert Explains Mold
Atlanta, Georgia – Unfortunately, mold is a part of our everyday lives, whether we realize it or not. One area homeowners need to watch closely for accumulation of mold is their AC unit. Without you even knowing, mold can develop and begin spreading through the home as the unit distributes air.
Since many homeowners don’t regularly inspect their heating and cooling units in their Atlanta homes, how can they know if mold has developed? Phil Montgomery, owner of Atlanta Heating and Air Conditioning, an air conditioning repair company, says that the best way to determine if mold is in a home is if the home develops a strange smell.
“Mold smells musty, so if you begin to notice a musty smell that wasn’t there before, the culprit could be mold,” says Montgomery, whose company also provides furnace service. “As soon as you notice a smell, you should call your AC technician to inspect the unit. Another big indicator is if you’ve had a leak in your unit. If either of these occur, call a technician right away.”
Easy Ways to Save Money This Winter
“Heating in the winter, and even air conditioning in the summer, don’t have to break the bank,” says Montgomery. “The easiest tip is to turn down your thermostat, especially during times when no one is at home.”
Turning down your thermostat can result in pretty significant savings. For every degree you lower your thermostat over an 8-12 hour period, you can save between 1 and 3 percent on your energy bill each year. And you can even rack up those savings when you’re home! At night, when you’re already nestled under the covers, consider lowering the thermostat a degree or two. And during the day, you can always throw on a sweater or additional layer of clothing in order to sacrifice a degree or two on the thermostat.
Learn About Noises in AC and Furnaces in Atlanta
Atlanta, Georgia – During the course of the summer while you were frequently running your AC unit, you may have noticed some strange noises coming from your HVAC unit. Some are no cause for concern, but others should have you calling your air conditioning repair company.
Chirping sounds coming from an HVAC unit are typically not a cause for concern. If your unit hasn’t been used for a little while, this sound could just signal it is warming back up. Allow your air conditioning unit to run for a few minutes to see if the sound goes away. If it doesn’t, or if it grows worse over time, call your air condition repair technician to inspect your unit. A continuous chirping could be the sign of a belt that needs to be replaced.
Why Does My AC Unit Make Noise?
Atlanta, Georgia – Now that temperatures are rising, homeowners are beginning to turn on their AC units to make their homes more comfortable. But after being off all winter, is your AC unit ready? If you notice any strange noises coming from the unit, it may be time to call for Alpharetta repair services.
“There are a few different sounds an air conditioning unit can make,” says Phil Montgomery, owner of Atlanta Heating and Air Conditioning, a company providing cooling service and duct cleaning to Atlanta residents for more than 40 years. “Some sounds require immediate attention so pay close attention to what noises your unit might be making.”
How Mold Can Get into Your AC Unit
Atlanta, Georgia – One thing homeowners worry about if there is a leak in their homes is an outbreak of mold. One area they might not think to keep an eye on is their air conditioning unit. Mold can develop and accumulate in a home’s air conditioning unit, and then circulate the spores throughout the home as it distributes cool air.
Mold is a part of everyday life. But when it develops in an AC unit, homeowners should take notice and call their repair technician to help clean the unit. But how can homeowners know that their unit might be growing mold?
“The first step might be to use your nose, “says Phil Montgomery, an Atlanta cooling service expert and owner of Atlanta Heating and Air Conditioning. “A home may develop a musty smell if mold is growing in an AC system. As soon as a homeowner notices a smell, they should call their air conditioning and heating repair company to inspect their unit.”
Atlanta, Georgia – Every day we are bombarded with ways to help save the environment, and the HVAC community is no different. In addition to using more energy efficient air conditioners and furnaces, homeowners also now have the option of using reusable and washable air filters.
But are these filters really as efficient at trapping dust and other contaminants as traditional filters? Phil Montgomery, a Marietta AC repair expert, explains the pros and cons of using washable air filters for homeowners.
